turn and face the strange

LISTENING TO: David Bowie - Changes

As I sit here sipping at a very well-earned glass of champagne, I should probably start from the beginning of my day. This is the first time I've been to California since before the pandemic (and honestly, only my second time in California ever), and I'm excited to say it's a mix of old and new on this trip. As seems to be a trend, I found myself at the Philadelphia airport for my first flight out of the day, which is the first time I've been back at the Philly airport since my trip to Santa Fe. In all honesty, it's still one of my favorite airports to travel through, but it was my second stop through Charlotte where I really felt the holiday spirit (although it's kind of hard to miss when the main terminal decorations are giant reindeer named Orville and Wilbur).

From there, the flight to Sacramento was pretty uneventful, even if I learned more about an extremely cute cat named Tucker from a woman a few seats away from me than I was expecting (it was a packed flight in the middle of the day, everyone was looking for some sort of distraction, and outside of enjoying an in-flight viewing of Bullet Train, her story was pretty entertaining). I do have to say that the Sacramento airport had some of the coolest art exhibits of any airports I've been to (I could have walked around the pillars made of suitcases in baggage claim all day), and I got a chuckle out of taking interstate 80 to get to my hotel. I've haven't seen much of the city yet, but right now I'm just glad I made it to The Citizen, and am looking forward to seeing what the rest of this week brings.
