I'm so in love / that I might stop breathing

LISTENING TO: Taylor Swift - Paris

It's funny - I would expect to be dragging a little bit today, but I found myself waking up pretty early to get ready this morning. It's crazy that today is the first time I've really been in an office for nearly a year, and to have it be on the complete opposite side of the country, although not on my bingo card, is definitely a plus. The Citizen is a pretty cool place to land for the week as well; I always appreciate a room with a view, and it does not disappoint.

I always tend to relate to cities in terms of walking, but Sacramento is not that kind of city unless you're in an area where it's expected. The building my office again is a converted factory, which allows for a lot of light and space but without that "new construction" feeling, which fits the city pretty well. The location its in lends itself to a lot of foot traffic, which meant I happily fell into old habits which included coffee (via Starbucks) and sushi (via Mikuni), with both stops being short walks around the block. Its something I tend to forget about working from home - getting out breaks up my day in a way that usually allows for a piece of sanity to intrude (in a good way, of course). I could have done without leaving my purse unattended and having to run back to get it, but it'll probably be yet another funny travel story in about a year or so, if not in a few days.

Today ended back at the Grange, which is the main restaurant here at the hotel, and to be very honest, this is a menu I definitely approve of, with a cocktail list Sother Teague would approve of. I'm not sure how much exploring I'll get to do while I'm here, but what I've seen so far makes me want to both come back and stay a little bit longer.
