LISTENING TO: Cream - Sunshine of Your Love Somehow, I always end up in Fresno when I visit California, and this time is no exception, although at least this time I got to see a little bit more of it. Today was a bit of an early start before my flight, which of course meant breakfast. At my cousin's suggestion, we drove out to Benaddiction's, which although was a bit farther out from Visalia was pretty close to the airport, and I'm glad we did. This place, on top of having one of the most creative menus I've seen in a while, was pretty much my aesthetic in a restaurant - surrounded by music, pop culture, and some of the most fun and eclectic coffee mugs a girl could ask for. It's a pretty unassuming place from the outside, but the overall experience does not disappoint. From there, it was back to the Fresno airport, which with it's nice sequoia tree always is a memorable place to be. After enjoying a nice glass of wine in the main terminal, it was off to Phoeni...

LISTENING TO: Kendall Street Company - Cars Visalia , how nice it is to be back. As much as I only enjoyed about the last 30 minutes of my drive in last night, it was a nice feeling to drive in somewhere I knew, even if it was only for a week a few years ago. Funny how your mind can work in terms of memory. First things first this morning? A lovely breakfast with family; it never fails that whenever there's more than two of us together, that always seems to happen. After dropping off my rental and taking a quick drive, it was off to yet another family tradition - brewery hopping.  The last time I was here was mainly spent on the wine trail, so I was excited to stay a bit closer to home, and my aunts didn't disappoint. Our first stop was Kaweah Brewing right in town, which had a couple of delicious IPAs (unfortunately, none of my family agrees with the extra hops, something that I'm extremely glad I got video of them all taste-testing - for posterity, of course). From there ...

LISTENING TO: Disturbed - Down With The Sickness I've mentioned before that I love taking roadtrips, but I'm pretty sure it's been a very long time since I've had one tire me as much as the one I've taken today. But I'm getting ahead of myself again. As I mentioned this morning (which honestly feels like about a year ago), today was the first official day of the vacation portion of this trip. I was able to take another quick walk around Sacramento before I drove out of town this afternoon (still getting to that portion of the story), and I'm glad I did. K Street is definitely somewhere I'd love to be able to spend a little bit more time the next time I'm here, which is why I'm glad I was able to work in a quick lunch at Azul's. Now onto the driving portion of today. In the pro's list, today was the first day I've ever rented a car, and I was excited to get in an official California roadtrip where I was the one driving (as I didn'...

LISTENING TO: Bendigo Fletcher - Sugar in the Creek Today (or technically yesterday?) was an interesting day, with a little bit more of a view of Sacramento (at the very least, that's true in terms of mileage). It started off with rain, as I apparently can't come to the west coast without it raining, even if there's a drought. I had noticed on my first day here there was a coffee shop down the street from my office, and there's one thing that I always try to do when I'm traveling now, which is to find a local coffee shop near where I'm staying. This is how I found myself having a really wonderful croissant and hot chai this morning at the Mill, which kind of offset the walk in the rain to get to work in the morning quite nicely. The day from there was pretty normal for a work day before a holiday party, which was held over at the Canon. Not only did the trip over give me another good view of parts of the city, but the restaurant itself is pretty fantastic. It...
