and the last lights fade from the shore

LISTENING TO: The Offspring - Behind Your Walls (Acoustic)

The theme for this year seems to be New York, apparently, which I don't mind at all. This time, however, that takes me to Mt. Tremper, to the former Mount Tremper Arts, for the wedding of a very close friend. Like last weekend, the drive up here was half the fun for me (even after battling a horrible sinus infection earlier this week) - there's just something about this neck of the woods that's both intimate and expanding at the same time, if that makes any sense at all.

The property definitely gives that impression as well - a small garden in the midst of a wide open space where the ceremony and cocktail hour will take place, with additional buildings for the reception as well as where we're staying/everyone's getting ready. As seems to be the theme lately, the fact that this used to be a performing arts space reads just about everywhere on the property, which is kind of comforting to me at least. It gives everything a second kind of life, especially with everyone in one place for the celebration. Apparently, this is one of the last events taking place before they're refurbishing the entire property too, so it's like a once in a lifetime type moment on top of it being a once in a lifetime type moment for Rachel and Shark - and I don't see how you can really top that.
