 LISTENING TO: Stevie Nicks - Rhiannon (Live 2005)     When I was a little kid, the area around Carthage always seemed to be a million miles away from everything. As I grew older, it was one of the more familiar places to wander. As I've written before, Moore County is one of my all time favorite locations for craft beer and wine tasting, and today was no exception. The first place on the list was Camelback Brewing. I've found lately that a lot of the breweries I visit that I really like are in what you could call mundane spaces - outlet malls, industrial sites. So on this visit to another outlet mall next to a grocery store, I was not surprised to find was some outstanding beer and food - the small space made all the better for their location in the middle of suburban madness. It gave me massive nostalgia for some of my favorite breweries back home, with the added value of an impromptu (for us, at least) vintage car show in their parking lot.  It was on the way bac...

 LISTENING TO: Brothers Osborne - Rum At this point, Moore County North Carolina is literally my happy place. I've written about my trips there so often at this point, that although I've been here for a few days already, it's second nature to forget I'm in a different surrounding than normal.  It's been a while since I've been here during the summer for an extended period of time, and it's easy to fall back into familiar patterns. I've been trying for a while to continue to find new things about old places, because as much fun as nostalgia is (especially in regards to the past few years), it's always good to put a new spin on old favorites. Seven Lakes itself is both ever-changing and change-less - it's still the familiar community I spent summers in as a kid, but there are always little gems in and around town to enjoy.
